I'm thinking if the performance of the engine was disappointing before the addition of 1.65 rocker arms, most likely the 1.65 rocker arms aren't the culprit.

My first thought was secondary lock...

The timing cover is easy. You can tap it for 3/8 NPT. The one in the head can be plugged like the opposite side head. But can be difficult task when the engine it together and in the car.

I think 350's are good street engines and respond to modifications just like any motor. I think one needs to be realistic about power numbers and I prefer flywheel dyno numbers or quarter mile times...

About ten years ago' ish. I can't remember the exact deal. They had a batch that something was a little soft. It was still better than OEM specification but not up to there spec.
