Thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes, and for your nice comments about our experiences with Pontiacs.

My wagon is still in great shape despite the 37 year old paint! After priming the Q Jet with the electric pump. it lights off on the first couple cylinders. No more racing is planned, but my two sons will decide what they might do with it.

Our last trip to the track, and final runs in 2010 gave us these numbers:

71 LeMans wagon, 4050# as raced, 3.55, 3200 tight Continental, full exhaust, 234/244/112 std. hydraulic, Rhoads lifters, 1.65 H.S. rockers, RPM, Q Jet, 92 octane, 28" X 11" MT radials. 267/224 cfm- .55" valve lift @28" with 6X-4 iron heads
with 171 cc port volume.

Average of four runs
ET - 1/4 = 11.456
MPH - 1/4 = 117.16
ET - 1/8 = 7.278
MPH - 1/8 = 94.43

So I can leave with no regrets.

Thanks for everything. Jim Hand, age 91.

Jim, it’s good to see that your pride and enthusiasm for your old wagon are still going strong. Those are some great numbers you posted. I hope you had a really nice 91st birthday and that there are many more to come. Enjoy yourself!
