76 versus 73/74

All, I know there is a difference in the motor mounts used in a 76 versus a 73 / 74 but I am wondering if the 76 frame still has the holes for the 64-74 frame brackets or at least can they be drilled?

Thanks!

Mark

I think the holes are there. I have a 73(with old style mounts) and a 75(with clamshells). As best I can see on the 75, considering the engine is in the car, I see holes in that area where 73-74 pedestals would be.

My question would be why you would want to replace the superior clamshell motor mounts with the inferior older style?

Thanks for the reply & good question. I want to put my 428 into this car and it only has the 2 hole block mounts which will work with the older mounts. I know there adapters out there but unless there are different ones than Ames has, it sounds like there is an interference problem with those Ames adapters; stated as such by Ames themselves.

You might check with Butler Performance for adapters. You could call them to see if they can tell you if there are any problems with the way their adapters fit: https://butlerperformance.com/c-1393...-adaptors.html
