1974 Trans Am

Allright if your looking for a 74, 4 speed car you could only get the base 400 and the SD455. The base L75 455 was only available with turbo 400 auto. Only made about 1700 standard 400 and couple hundred SD cars.

That's correct. I knew you could only get the 455 with auto I didn't bother to put that thou. Thanks for the correction...

Hey

I certainly dont want you to think i was correcting you. Just want to make sure that you have as many facts as you can when buying a car. Now is an excellent time to buy, terrible time to sell. You should be able to get something at a great price. Have fun. Look forward to seeing what you get! thanks again Brad

thepontiacman (aka Preston Grant) has a white '74 for sale in the classifieds right now. He's in Talledega, AL. I've seen the car. I didn't go over it like I would if buying it but it looks like a very solid restoration candidate. Can't remember now if it was a 400 or 455 car.

Thanks Greg for that info on that car. I approached Preston 2 years ago on that same car when he was asking $7500 for it . I offered 1500 less and he turned me down, now I see he is asking 5500 go figure. I think I will stay away from that car as I thought then 7500 was overpriced now I still think 5500 is overpriced for a non matching transmission to the car. Please no disrespect to Preston as I dealt with him also and a very stand up guy, but i think i could find one in that shape for less.

Thanks Bub

I'm sure you've seen this Admiralty Blue 4 speed, which for the amount of rot and incorrect parts is priced high..

Well, sounds like you both changed your minds on how much his car is worth...not uncommon...but I guess you both have to be happy before a good deal is made.

You never know, I could still end up with Preston's car. I want to keep my options open thats why I'm in no rush. Waiting on the right deal to come along...How about your White one??? LOL

Bub,
Just sent you to a link of a car I saw while looking for a 70-72 blue TA. Not mine and I don't know anything about it, but it is a White 74 455 2 owner car that is listed as # matching. If you do't get the e-mail send me a PM and I'll sent the link.

Good Luck with the search.:usa2:
