'74 SD on Ebay
 

I'm no expert on 2nd gen T/A's, but I was curious about this car (item #4604788209). The posted VIN has the "X" in it, which it should to the best of my knowledge (although the guy doesn't show the VIN tag), but the car has sheetmetal screws holding the cowl plate on and has an auto trans, which doesn't show up on the window sticker. Does this concern anyone? I'm not interested in buying the car, I am just curious.

I seen the car as well, The cowl tag screws are correct as my 74 and 78 have the same type. I don't think the cowl tags were ever rivited in place, however I am not sure about 70-73 cars. From just glancing at the photo's everything seems legit, I would have posted a pic of at least the first 5 digits of the VIN and make sure that "X" was displayed.

Nope, I don't work at Robins AFB, however my parents were air force, so that's the way I wound up here. I am actually a supervisor at a 300MW Power Facility about 10 miles south of the base.

There is a member of PY here "ken73" who is air force and recently moved here to Warner Robins, he owns a 74 SD 455 Trans Am.

Good eye, the way its posted I didnt think it would get much action by just having a title 1974 trans am. Most would have noted SD-455 to get some better action.

Looks like someone cleaned up the motor area with a can of black paint, brake res, hood springs, cowl ledge(tag area). However there is some original stuff like the cowl seal, tag (is mounted corrrect) trunk mat, fenders.................
Should bring 32k-36k ? maybe more with todays market.

Take a look at the cowl tag photo. Notice how rusty that fender bolt is. I wonder what the bottom of that car looks like.

I took a look at my 74 T/A today. I am the second owner and bought it with 80K original miles. My cowl tag is held on by rivets. I'm not sure when GM switched to screws versus rivets, but I am pretty sure my other 74s are also held on by screws.

It's up to $30K with over 6 days left.

11C, (3rd week Nov 73) 74 SD Formula & 02B, (2nd week Feb 74) 74 Formula 400. Both trim tags held on with hex head phillips screws.

My 73 SD T/A has the same type screws in the picture as well. It's a June built car.

As far as the auto trans not being shown on the window sticker, they didn't. The auto trans was a no cost option and therefore did not show up on the sticker. I believe in later years it started to show up as a N/C on the window sticker.
