How to get T bolts out of shock plate for rear end

For anybody who has ever changed out the U bolt and T bolt from a factory rear end shock plate. Is it very hard to get the T bolt out of the shock plate? This is on a 1979 Trans Am SE.

Was it difficult to get the T bolt out and how did you do it?

They are loose. Once you remove the nut they should come right out. There is no press if that is what you are concerned about.

Heat them & beat them. That's how I did it.

That is exactly what I was concerned about. Hopefully they just slide right out without any pounding.

What am I missing here I've never had a issue with them just drop the whole plate maybe replacing one at a time would create side loads but I haven't tried just one at a time....Maybe living in Commiefornia has advantages..

I live in rusty old NH and have never had trouble removing them.

I am replacing them with new U bolts. As I said earlier...I didn't know if they were pressed in or not.

This is the first time that I have replaced factory GM T bolt fasteners.

Nitebird,
You shouldn't have any issues, they pop right out with minimal pressure.
