How to get T bolts out of shock plate for rear end
For anybody who has ever changed out the U bolt and T bolt from a factory rear end shock plate. Is it very hard to get the T bolt out of the shock plate? This is on a 1979 Trans Am SE.
Was it difficult to get the T bolt out and how did you do it? |
They are loose. Once you remove the nut they should come right out. There is no press if that is what you are concerned about.

Heat them & beat them. That's how I did it.

What am I missing here I've never had a issue with them just drop the whole plate maybe replacing one at a time would create side loads but I haven't tried just one at a time....Maybe living in Commiefornia has advantages..

I live in rusty old NH and have never had trouble removing them.

This is the first time that I have replaced factory GM T bolt fasteners. |
Nitebird,
You shouldn't have any issues, they pop right out with minimal pressure. |
