1972 shaker wiring harness question
 

The 1972s used the Turbo 400 kickdown switch mounted on the gas pedal bracket under the dash (both four speeds and autos).

I am going to install a working shaker setup on my Gramma's 75 and need to source the small section of the harness that hooks to that kickdown switch, then to the fusebox and then goes through the firewall to the bottom of the shaker where it connects to the dual solenoid harness inside the lid. It appears to be a two-wire harness that has a pink wire and an orange wire.

Lectric Limited makes the internal shaker lid section https://www.lectriclimited.com/wire-...harness-101583 but I can't seem to locate a listing for the under the dash wiring. Anyone have an idea if they make the section I need or is it as I suspect, actually part of the 1972 factory under-dash harness and engine harness. (Which means I'll have to make my own).

A wiring diagram would be helpful as well.

As I recall it was made into one side of the kick down switch, 2 wires on one side of connector ,part of the harness. ( IRRC) Since you run a Detent cable ( TH350) and Not an electric kickdown on that car, should be easy to just power that switch ( orange wire to fuse box) , and then off to the shaker?? Your foot would determine the shaker and not as much the gear though, which might be a good think ? You have the correct pedal and switch? I have a spare if not.

The 1975's have a bracket already present for the Turbo 400 switch even though it wasn't used on the 350. I was rummaging through my parts last night and found an extra switch. I guess I could just run a power line from the fuse box to one of the two terminals and run the other terminal wire to the shaker.

I'm planning on doing this same mod to my 76 SE I'm restoring, a thought on your question is to use a 70 Chevelle cowl induction harness, if you don't want to modify it into the fuse block you would have to pierce a hole in your firewall but would be an easy quick job.
I have the orange/blk tracer for under hood harness to fuse block and using the Chevelle harness to tie into the under dash to fuse block.

That's a great idea for using the jumper wire from a Chevelle. I will check it out.

here is an 81 Camaro air induction harness that is much less busy than the Chevelle harness.

I remember the 81's had the flapper hood scoop. Did they use a Turbo 400 kickdown to activate it? That two wire terminal looks very similar.

Do you have a part number for that?

For my setup I found a female connector that plugs into the male end of that harness that connects to the kickdown switch. Then I found another male connector to plug into the harness itself. The female was off an older Buick. Then I found a junkyard connector that plugged into my fuse box and ran the one wire through the existing hole by the gas pedal. On the shaker side I used a factory engine to firewall ground cable to my shaker and I put the connector to it on the bolt that holds the horn relay. I also found a single wire to the solenoid that looked very shaker correct from a gas tank harness. The entire wiring harness is self contained and just plugs into existing connectors so no cutting or splicing into my factory harness was involved.

Looks like the 1980 version (CA05715) has more length to it compared to the 1981. (This is the one you pictured above)

Why not use the tach wire grommet hole?
