I put away in my garage a car that I have wanted for quite a while and wanted to share here and Thank Poncho Mike for trusting me to do right by it. 74 Admiralty Blue SD

Nice! Will be beautiful when you’re done. What color interior?

Cool project!
All there? Looking forward to more pics and progress. :) |
Nice!
|
Interior is DLX black, not too many options for an SD, everything driveline is accounted for and original other than intake, carb, Dist. Luckily I have correct ones from the other one I had. Mark

Auto. ?
|
It looks like the inch of dust & dirt it had on it from sitting all of those years got blown off on the ride home!
Great car that's in the right hands, good chatting with you @ Charlotte Mark. |
Very cool. Nice to see an SD not all 'optioned up'.
|
Thanks Steve, it is always catching up with you guys. The car is an auto, I am in the middle of a project with my son that we are documenting in the 70-72 lemans section that is moving along and I am doing one with my dad at the same time so this one is not going to start immediately. That said I am going to at least get the motor built over the next short while and do some clean up as so far it is really just the rain on the ride home that cleaned it and a quick shop vac job on the trailer.

When I find those 10" rusty Cragars, I'll be sure to send them up to you.
|
I will watch the mail in eager anticipation, please include the rebel flag starter kit for me too.
|
If you look at the front bumper, you will see it has a license plate holder. This car came from rural SC, and the previous owner had a rebel flag license plate mounted in front.
My employer at the time was very politically correct, even back in the 80s. They had a list of offensive symbols that were not allowed on company property, and the rebel flag was one of them. I removed the rebel flag license plate just to be safe. Mike |
Please forward said plate with the rusty Cragars as without them it will tarnish my new found image.

*LIKE* will watch progress.

This was interesting any ideas, serviceman?
|
Any ideas out there?
|
I would say it was ordered by a serviceman just about to return to civilian life.
Does the nose emblem have metal between the wings or not? |
There are a few 73 Formulas and a couple of TA's that went to UK with those dealer zone/dealer #'s.
1974 have a couple that went overseas, one to Germany. Not sure if they went overseas because the owners were in the Armed Services. As HFR said, possibly a service man was returning home and picked it up on arrival back home. If there is no sign of it being overseas, probably good chance it was never intended to go overseas and was picked up in NY? |
I don't know for sure one way or the other but I would not think it left the country. I will have to check on the bird
