I really like the adjustability of these. So far I have no complaints.

I switched every lite possible last year and no regrets - just some disgusted looks from the purists lol but I need to see in Deert country so I don't care!

There is two flashers in my car but I only changed one of them to the modern style as the other flasher is still stuck in the board for some reason - all the lites are working great.

Good luck!

When I rewired our car with American Autowire harness, I didn't need to change the flasher.

I've pretty much converted every car over to LED's. Interior and exterior. Absolutely a worthwhile upgrade to help these old eyes see at night.

I use the glass conversion lenses for the headlights that look factory ($20 on amazon) and then install Lightening Dark LED bulbs that are plug and play. Purists don't say a thing cause they can't tell it's converted :D

OK lets discuss brands
Ive used Superbrite LEDs(brand) in the past with good luck.
So much garbage out there Im hesitant to choose anything else.

Yes. They make them in 7" as well. I see the price has went up slightly since I last bought a pair. Still $22-$25 a piece isn't bad compared to some of the LED headlights out there they want $300 for.

Thanks

I have a few NOS Hellas that are glass/steel in
round and rectangular.
In my 97 Bird they are miles above OEM
and Im sure even further than T3s

I agree on Superbright LEDs. I use 3 red ones on each side on the tail lights for my 64 Grand Prix. I’ve avoided any flasher issues by retaining the standard incandescent bulb in the front turn lights. I’m more concerned about bright stop and turn indicators in the rear than the front turn signals.

Formulajones 03-31-2024 08:41 AM

Yes, I run red colored LED's in all my tail lights as well. However I've converted the front turn signals to yellow LED's and simply swapped over to an electronic flasher I pick up at Napa for a few bucks to make it all work.

That setup has worked great for a few years now in the firebird, chevelle, mustang, camaro etc... I just swap everything over including the side markers.

I just buy the 1157/1156/194 LED bulbs in bulk from Amazon. The ones I like to use are the LED's with projection tips like these.....

https://www.amazon.com/BRISHINE-Bril...29&sr=8-9&th=1

I find these are much brighter and show a bigger difference from dim to bright when braking or turn signals are used vs the other style that just has the little squares all around,,,,if that makes sense. I experimented a lot with the LED bulbs before I settled on these projection tip style bulbs. I also found they work better if the colored LED's are used to match the lens they are behind. White LED's tend to bleech out the color.

Formula.

So these LED lamps are nice & bright? I have been using LED lamps but one has failed, need to replace.

Formulajones 04-01-2024 06:30 AM

I use lightening bright for the headlights and they are really bright. Those projection tip bulbs I linked to are super bright. I haven't been particularly brand specific on those. Ive run probably 3 different brands that have all been great as long as they have that projection lens.

Formula: what brand do you use for the low/hi beam headlite?

Lightening Bright is what I like to use. I've bought them on amazon several times for various cars. I was going to give you a link but oddly enough I'm searching and can't find them right now

Formulajones 04-06-2024 10:25 PM

I must be losing my mind George, lol. My bad they are called Lightening Dark.

Here's a link,

I use a lot of Superbright LEDs, they work.

In a pinch, I got some Sylvania 1157s, a little expensive, but they work great, let's see how long they last.

In my state, last year in Sept they banned any 'colored' lights on the outside of the car which are not white, red, or amber. Also banned any Xeon or HID that have a 'blue' tint. Even cars that came with them OE. As people get rejected during state inspection, sure there will be some backlash, but will see how that plays out.

I had blue halos on the GTO, had to remove. Also had a blue license plate bulb, had to remove that as well. Since they 'saw' the halos, I couldn't just unplug them, they said if it is there it has to work. Needless to say, won't going back to that station for an inspection again.

One thing to note, when buying an H4 type headlight housing, be aware of the refraction lenses on them. Some can throw the light in unusable directions. Same with bulbs, look for ones that are 360 degree light patterns. Also, it may be good to look for ones that are adjustable, in case your housing don't throw the light correctly.

There's no downside to swapping your flashers with LED compatible ones, and they are not expensive. Many bulbs now though are compatible with all flashers, but not many advertise that, so can be a little of a crap-shoot.
