Preferred Carb base gasket 1976 Trans Am
 
Looking see what you guys recommend for base gaskets on a 76 trans am with a 455, factory cast iron intake manifold and factory Quadrajet. Mine currently has a leak. and with all the options am. curious what is recommended. TIA

x2 although not a Pontiac engine here, I find the thickest stock versions were the best, also for insulation purposes and those that include the nylon crush inserts.
Does yours also include the heat shield plate? Remember it will need gasket as well.

No gasket on the stainless shield if you have one.

I'm not talking 40 years ago originality, I saying today, if it even had one it may need a gasket to seal those now warped and pitted surfaces. There were different types, no saying which his had if it did.
