Advice/Info on a 70 GTO

I’m in the process of working a deal on a 1970 GTO. The car is in pieces without an engine. It had a Chevy engine and original Muncie 4 spd. What I’m interested to know about is this GTO has drum brakes, no a/c and a bench seat with a 4 spd. Can any one help with info about numbers on this car. Seems odd to have drum brakes. I don’t think the bench seat is odd but different. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Disc brakes were not standard on a GTO til the '73 models, well after the GTO returned to an option on a 2 door LeMans. Fairly common to run across 4 wheel drum brake 70 GTO's. Depending on the purpose build of the car, you may want to convert to power front discs or retain the 4 wheel drum system. On two of my '71 233's I've upgraded their 4 wheel manual drum systems with 1/16" larger diam wheel cylinders & high matrix brake shoes from musclecarbrakes.com (the old Praise Dyno Brake company).

Decoding, as factory optioned, Cardinal Red with black Strato Bench. Most likely worth sending off for PHS documents to tell if an original manual trans car. In a pinch to tell if factory manual trans car, one can often look for the presence of the small plastic manual trans backup light switch on top of the strg column & the look for factory neutral safety switch to tell higher up, off the clutch pedal, to tell if a '69 & later project is a factory manual trans car. nearly every automatic '69-72 GTO I've ran across that's been hastily converted to manual trans lacks at least one of those small parts.

The car has a factory tach. Once I get to look at it I will try to find those pieces.
