59-63 AC mounts and PS Pump with mounts.

Need the PS pump with pulley and brackets from an AC car and the AC compressor mounting brackets.

drain89,
That's going to be difficult to find. I'm not sure what year Pontiac you have but this info is off a 62 Catalina. For the power steering pump & brackets they're the same for A/C & non A/C cars - the only difference is the PS pulley - it will have 8AC cast in the pulley. Only late 62 A/C cars got an alternator which used the same mount as the 63 FS Pontiacs - I don't know if the 64's used the same Alt mount as the late 62-63 mounts. There a total of 7 pieces that make up the A/C compressor mounts on a 62 NOT including the alternator mount. First pic is the 62-63 Alt mount with alternator. 2nd pic is the A/C PS pump pully, the 3rd pic is the bottom Compressor mount that attaches to the ALT bracket, under that is the bracket that attaches to the back of the A/C compressor, goes over the valve cover & attaches to the intake manifold at a boss near the carb, under that is the 2 piece mount that attaches to the head - you will also need the special head bolts that go through that mount. 4th pic is the bracket that attaches to the back of the A/C compressor, there are two 1/2" spacers that go between that bracket & the compressor - 5th Pic. There is also a different water pump pulley for an A/C car. It's a 2 grove pulley. I don't have a pic of it. It's out getting powder coated.

Thank you! I have the 2 groove water pump pulley. Does the crank use a 2 groove setup or 3 groove?

Drain89,
Glad you asked about the crank pulley. I just realized I don't know where mine is. The crank takes a seperate pulley that bolts to the outside of the hamonic balancer. When I do locate mine I'll post a picture of it. Here's the casting numbers for the cast iron A/C mounts that bolt to the head. The casting numbers are for a 61 - 64 Pontiac and are 541198 - stamped into the lower bracket that mounts to the head and 542683 cast into the upper bracket that pivots.

Franks Pontiac does have the big front mount for the compressor - he's asking $75.00 for it - 6th photo bar down far right and better photos of the A/C brackets that bolt to the head 12th bar down & far right

I have a bolt harmonic balancer with 2 grooves. Do I need to add this to it?

No, that one wouldn't work. It's too deep.

If you find your pulley please let me know the part number on it.

I certainly will!

I found the crank shaft A/C pulley. It's not good (it's going to be tough to find, it's cast aluminum) here are the specs. Outside pulley OD = 6 1/6" from a flat surface to the outside edge of the pulley = 2 1/8", to the bottom edge of the pulley = 1 1/2", OD of pulley where it bolts to the inside of the harmonic balancer = 3 1/2" so the installation sequence would be Keyed crank flange, the 2 grove pulley, harmonic ballancer, then the A/C pulley. The casting number on the A/C Pulley is 149V201 ---- the 9 might be an 8 - it's a cast number but I'm pretty sure it's a 9 - I couldn't get the number to show up with the camera. Hope this is of some help to you. If you need more measurements or a tape measure next to it for a clearer referance let me know.

drain89 04-28-2024 05:56 AM

Thank you! Does your 2 groove pulley have a PN on it? And can you get a pic with a tape measure beside the whole balancer assembly (to give me an idea on spacing).
Would 64 models use the same setup as this?

drain89,
The 2 grove pulley doesn't have a part number on it BUT it's the same pulley as used on the non A/C cars. I checked it against my known non A/C pulleys, they all measureds out the same. I'm pretty sure the Full Size 64's would use the same setup as this but I don't know this for a fact. I don't know if the 64 GTO's & Tempest used the same crank pulleys as the full size cars.

1st & 2nd pic of double pulleys, harmonic balancer & end of A/C pulley - 2 7/16"
3rd pic of double pulleys, harmonic balancer & edge of A/C pulley - 2 1/4"
4th pic Crank hub, double pulleys, harmonic balancer & A/C pulley in order
5th pic what I call the crank hub

Are my explanations clear as mud? If so let me know what pics or measurements you need.

drain89,
Another possibility is a pulley from a 65?, it's stamped steel and is part #9781741 from what I've read this is a direct replacement for the cast aluminum pulley. this info comes from another Pontiac enthusiast - pfilean.

here's an ebay link for that pulley. have the seller measure the outside OD to make sure it will fit inside your harmonic balancer.

Dang, I'm not sure but Todd has been dealing Pontiac parts for years. I'll give you the measurements off mine with everything stacked on top of the hub. That single first pully is really throwing me off. On 61 - 64 Full size cars - the Alt is driven off one pulley & the power steering off the other & A/C got its own seperate pulley. Possibly an A/C car with no power steering?
I'm attaching a couple more pics from my setup sitting on top of the crank hub. If you can get Todd to measure the one he has & the measurements match you should be good.
Also, try calling Todd direct rather than using eBay. He's prompt with his calls & if you deal with him direct he'll usually give you a better price because eBay & PayPal aren't taking their cut. He doesn't do credit cards or debit cards, I've just sent him a check. Once my check clears, he sends me the part.

There’s also this that may be an option. I’m going to look into it.

if the pulleys match up with the measurements in post #11 you should be good, but that would just be a guess on my part.
