71 TA getting the reboot

Hope this new thread keeps moving ahead. Starting the pre-assembly and getting to know the parts and pieces I retrieved from the Memphis scammer...

Can't wait to follow this one!!

Norwood 10-26-2016 07:05 PM

Not sure I like fit of that spoiler ;)

weranc55 10-26-2016 07:41 PM

I would spend the weekend reorganizing and cataloging and all the parts you have and what you're missing

Bentwheelbob 10-26-2016 09:43 PM

Great idea to start a new thread. Good luck moving this thing forward. All you need is a little good luck charm....

Well hey now......

Judge273 10-27-2016 08:02 AM

I've decided based on Chucks previous advice to make it a roller before she hits the body and paint booth.

Working my way from back to front. I'll get the rear end on, leaf springs attached. Then attach subframe cleaning up the underside using Bobs diesel power wash method.

More to follow....

Norwood 10-27-2016 08:32 AM

This forum should be a great resource for you

The Boss 10-27-2016 09:04 AM

Best of luck to you Mike.

I've never been successful at doing full-on restorations, hope you're up to it.

superdutybob 10-27-2016 10:36 AM

You need more crap in your garage! LOL

4birds 10-27-2016 11:25 AM

Looks like fun to me!

Good luck to you on the assembly Mike.

ladytata 10-27-2016 11:42 AM

Judge273 10-27-2016 11:56 AM

Thanks for all the support. Never took on a project like this before. Not getting any younger either. ..

Norwood 10-27-2016 12:00 PM

I'm thinking our Wisconsin trip is cancelled

Judge273 10-27-2016 01:25 PM

Still going to get a Wisconsin run in. Need to soak overnight in diesel fuel. And another coat in morning and a good hot water power wash. Shouldn't be an all day affair?

Good weekend for both!

weranc55 10-27-2016 01:26 PM

You need to get a hot pressure washer. I used one on a few of my cars and they came out great.

Judge273 10-27-2016 01:36 PM

Got a hot water source at 140f to give it a go. Got my diesel juice and Tyvek suit and scrounges...

Red oxide primer too. Not going for vintage. Haha

Judge273 10-28-2016 10:19 AM

Payoff after a day...

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps8nodhbbw.jpg

In between some pre-assembly to sort thru haves and have nots..

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps5s5g0rye.jpg

Judge273 10-30-2016 07:00 AM

Getting ready to send car to painter. Going with original color Cameo White.

What's the best paint and primer combo?

What's best on bottom for primer? Has a little sheen from factory.

Who makes a good product?

RamAir 10-30-2016 08:27 AM

I didn't know you had those skills Mike? Looks like you're not wasting any time. Good luck with the project.

Norwood 10-30-2016 10:20 AM

As far as paint. I would discuss this with the painter and use his experience to make a proper decision. Different shops are comfortable using different branded products. Opinions on which are best are just that. Go with what your shop recommends.

Judge273 10-30-2016 01:25 PM

I don't Doug...but know people that do.

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...psnieegizc.jpg

Have one that's a bit different.

http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...pszymn7skk.jpg

That little bracket.

Norwood 10-30-2016 03:08 PM

You arnt wasting any time

njsteve 10-30-2016 03:46 PM

Did I miss an earlier episode about the "memphis scammer"? I hate when I tune in halfway through a TV show. Is there a link to that storyline?

Judge273 10-30-2016 04:20 PM

Steve, I'll fill you in at MCACN....

No time to waste.

Held for Ransom 10-30-2016 05:40 PM

Do you have the correct elbow on that air cleaner?

Judge273 10-30-2016 05:43 PM

Flat bottom on valve cover one..

Brewster 10-31-2016 01:14 PM

You going to paint those bolts?

Nope, different scammer

SD455DJ 11-01-2016 12:47 PM

Mike, I'm really curious about the back story on this one as well. I hope it wasn't too bad, but the detail work you're doing is looking good.

Dennis

Norwood 11-01-2016 12:57 PM

Maybe at MCACN we can all gather round the camp fire and Uncle Mike can tell a story ;(

The Boss 11-01-2016 04:04 PM

Just like last year? :D

njsteve 11-01-2016 04:41 PM

Can't wait for the show and the gossip 'round the campfire. Who's bringin' the baked beans?

Can everyone wear a little nametag with their forum name on it please? This way I'll know who is who. See you in 2 weeks!

The Boss 11-01-2016 05:02 PM

You've been to my house Steve - you better remember me this time! ;)

Judge273 11-01-2016 08:50 PM

Does anyone know if the 71 front fuel/vapor lines are different from 72?

Anyone install any lately with pix? They got me stumped...

Dens71TA 11-01-2016 09:31 PM

'70-71 fuel and return lines run along the passenger side frame rail, on the engine mount cross member, and end on the drivers side near the fuel pump.

'72-74 fuel and return lines run along the passenger side frame rail and end at the engine mount cross member. Rubber fuel hose goes through a clip on the engine timing cover and to the fuel pump.

Judge273 11-02-2016 06:36 AM

Thanks Dens! Any pix? Love to see how that looks in place...Even a 70 too? Diagram? Something has to be out there? No?

Norwood 11-02-2016 09:11 AM

Mike first thing you need to get is the assembly manual

Judge273 11-02-2016 10:53 AM

Or a picture of that page....crickets

Judge273 11-02-2016 02:18 PM

Big thanks! Double clipped with brake line at inside of motor cross member?

Dens71TA 11-02-2016 02:39 PM

Yes, the main feed fuel line and the brake line for the passenger side front caliper are clipped together.
