Actually, if you notice at the tail end of the video a neighbor pops over the crest of the hill heading the other direction and discretion kicked in pretty quickly. |

I saw that - figured you weren't going to go sideways in 2nd when they crested that hill. BTW - not married by choice this time around - 8 years & counting & she's still here....I'm a lucky guy! :D |

Photobucket was in some weird mode, figured it out. Nice video, too bad the neighbor popped over the hill!

O.K.
Earlier in this post Bentwheelbob makes a reference to the M22 trans whining. I guess my question should have been: does the H/O cars all have M22's rather than M21's or was that an option? Quote:
|
All the 1971 and 1972 455HO four-speeds were M22s. It was the mandatory transmission for that engine option.

Well Steve didn't leave me much to do on the Black Car, but there are a few things. Mainly I have been trying to get the Truck finished so I can get it off the lift and get the Black Car up in the air for a thorough inspection of Steve's handy work. Here's the truck story from the PY Lobby:
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=727561 There were a few things that were on Steve's list that I have inherited including the oil slinging A/C compressor. After having the car for only a short time I concurred that this was an issue and purchased a compressor pulley shield from Eckler's and got it installed today. Below is a picture. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5f5f9af5.jpg |
Bob,
You need to get the new "RQ" air cleaner decal that ECS Automotive finally produced. Give them a call. |

Charles at ECS said that their phone had been ringing a lot today for the RQ decal. |

As mentioned earlier, the one really alluded to by the term 'Rcok Crusher', is only the M22; Which had the same gears ratios as the M21, but used straight cut gears - which made the whine. It's absolute music... Quote:
Once again, if my memory serves me correctly, the muncie transmissions used in Pontiac's goes like this 1967-1973 wide ratio = M20 1967-1970 close ratio = M21 1971-1972 close ratio = M22 1973 wide ratio = M21* (iirc there has been some speculation as to actual transmissions used for 1973, and I believe early in the 1974 model year, the only four speed available was the Borg Warner Super T-10) This thread is great... The '72 and '73 Formulas both look great! |
